He was a self-taught Engineer, working for the big 3 in Detroit, IBI Group out of Canada and many other well known Engineering firms throughout Michigan. He was known as “the fixer”, given the difficult task to “fix” the already broken plans of buildings under construction. Cass Tech High School being the most interesting.
He was an avid supporter of his children. From cheering his loudest (and he was loud) at the kids sporting events (swimming & karate) to a Boy Scout adviser or helping the Girls scouts.
He was an active sports junkie! (until MS took that) Swimming (State Champ, lifeguard, trainor), Skiing (both water and snow), skating (hockey and figure), softball, wallyball, curling, volleyball, white water rafting (the Cheat, New, & Youghiogheny rivers), stamp collecting, etc. You name it, he loved it. Sailing in the Florida Keys with some of his buddies was one of the best times.
He enjoyed LONG days of Dungeons and Dragons with friends. Euchre was his favorite card game and he was good at it.
Ancestry became a new hobby when physical hobbies became difficult. Finding descendants from the Mayflower and Revolutionary War was fascinating.
He spent weekends with his kids and the Boy Scouts building rockets and making sure science was a fun activity.
He always had a way of using large, unfamiliar words in a sentence that made you want to find a dictionary.
Family was important. Whether it was trips with Mom & Dad when younger to Europe and Alaska, Family reunions to Chicago, Disney, Canada, Etc. or Family trips to Traverse City, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Arizona, Etc. He made sure that family knows family.
